06 Sep True Story. Awareness and Prevention can save your life.
A note from Marygrace Scarpelli:
Rob, It was your constant reinforcement of prevention and awareness I believe prevented a potentially very bad situation. Thank You! I also took your advice and purchased pepper spray, and a sound horn.
I was driving along Rte 80 and pulled over at a gas station. I got out of the car began to pump gas. Out of nowhere approached by a suspicious looking man pointing at his cell phone, not speaking English. My immediate Mindset Zone of Gray (neutral zone – assess). Quickly noticing another man getting out of car circling to the front of the car. Very aggressively I raised open hands (as in stop) saying, No! I don’t know what your saying. I had my car keys in hand, locked doors to car and walked into the store.
Moral of story: Better safe than sorry. Think. Be aware. Take action.
1. Mindset Zone – Gray – Neutral – Assess
2. Mindset Zone – Green -Take Action
3. Prevention- took keys out of ignition. Locked doors to car.
4. Immediately went to safe place
